Free Quilt Block Pattern - Beth Ann Doing

I'm breaking quilt blocks down. May look hard, but give it a chance, you can do this quilt block.

this is what I call this block, it has LOTS of names

Cut 4 White – 4 ½” x 2 ½”

Cut 12 White – 2 ½” x 2 ½”

Cut 20 Green – 1 ½” x 1 ½”
Cut 16 White – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

Cut 4 Green – 1 ½” x 8 ½”

Cut 8 White – 1 ½” x 8 ½”

Cut 4 White – 4 ½” x 2 ½”

Cut 8 Green – 2 ½” x 2 ½”

Sew as shown – 4 times


Cut 1 White – 4 ½” x 4 ½”
Cut 4 White – 2 ½” x 2 ½”
Sew rows together as shown

Cut 2 Green – 1 ½” x 8 ½”
Cut 4 White – 1 ½” x 8 ½”

Sew as shown and add to the star sides

 9- patch corners
Cut 20 Green – 1 ½” x 1 ½”
Cut 16 White – 1 ½” x 1 ½”
(I changed my color to red, see block)

Sew together as shown – 4 times

Cut 2 Green – 1 ½” x 8 ½”
Cut 4 White – 1 ½” x 8 ½”



Sew as shown add 9-patch on the outside – 2 rows
Sew rows into quilt block

Free Quilt Block to Make - King's Highway

King's Highway Quilt Block Pattern, have to love the name of this quilt block !

24" x 24" This is a big quilt block and it's fun and easy to sew together. Make four of the quilt block and you have a perfect baby or lap quilt.

the placement of color was random

Cut 48 Assorted Colors – 2 ½” x 2 ½”

Cut 4 Lt. Blue – 4 ½” x 6 ½”

Cut 8 Black – 4 ½” x 2 ½”
Cut 16 Black – 6 ½” x 2 ½”






 Breaking the quilt block down

Make 4 of this block
9 squares per block
Cut 28 Assorted Colors – 2 ½” x 2 ½”


The block center row

Cut 4 Assorted Colors – 2 ½” x 2 ½”

Cut 4 Black – 4 ½” x 2 ½”

Cut 2 Lt. Blue – 4 ½” x 6 ½”



Top and Bottom row – Do 2 Rows

Cut 8 Black – 6 ½” x 2 ½”

Cut 2 Lt. Blue – 4 ½” x 6 ½”


Border Rows – Do 4

Cut 16 Assorted Colors – 2 ½” x 2 ½”

Cut 4 Black – 4 ½” x 2 ½”
Cut 8 Black – 6 ½” x 2 ½”


Sew rows together as shown

Free Quilt Block Pattern - Duck's Foot in Mud - from The Quilt Ladies

A free quilt block pattern for you 

and I'm doing it a bit different, sharing the pattern as usual, but then  I will walk you through the piecing of the quilt pattern. I break the block down showing you how a quilt pattern which may look difficult is done. If you don't need help piecing a block, get started ! ! Great beginners sewing machine


"Duck's Foot in Mud" 



8" x 8" 
Cutting for entire block

Cut 1 Lt. Green – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Cut 1 White – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Make Triangles

Cut 1 Green – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Cut 1 White – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Make Triangles

Cut 8 Assorted Colors – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”
Cut 8 White – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”
Make Triangles

Cut 2 Lt. Green – 1 ½” x 1 ½”
Cut 2 Green – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

Cut 4 White – 2 ½” x 3 ½”

Cut 4 White – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

For the corner
Make 4 of this unit

Make your triangles – How to link

Cut 1 Lt. Green – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Cut 1 White – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Make Triangles

Cut 1 Green – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Cut 1 White – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Make Triangles

Cut 8 Assorted Colors – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”
Cut 8 White – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”
Make Triangles

Cut 4 White – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

Lay your pieces out and sew together each set as shown,
Sew those units into the block.


Cut 2 White – 2 ½” x 3 ½”

Do this 2 times



Cut 2 Lt. Green – 1 ½” x 1 ½”
Cut 2 Green – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

Cut 4 White – 2 ½” x 3 ½”

Sew rows into block

Simple Quilt Block to Make -

One of the best way to become a better quilt maker is to make quilt blocks.  This quilt block has a lot of what you need to know and it's all here in ONE quilt block.

There are many ways to make quilt block triangles,
here is how I do them.
How I do squares for my quilt blocks.

Finished Quilt Block Size 6" x 6"
Read about The Quilt Ladies Books
Simple quilt block pattern
Cut 2 Gray – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Cut 2 Dark .Gray – 2 7/8”x 2 7/8”
Make Triangles –corners
Cut 2 Yellow – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”
Cut 2 Gray – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”
Make Triangles -center
