Pin Wheel Quilt
I discovered quilts at auctions and after not being able to afford them, I learned to quilt. At the time we lived in Burlington, IA and on a visit, my mom arrived with this quilt.
It was made for her 8th birthday (about 1936), by her Great Grandmother. Mom tells how Granny's hands did not work well and my mom and aunt, helped with getting the fabric under the needle on the trundle sewing machine. They cut squares for her and help do the pressing.
Even then and through her life my mother has never quilted.
Even then and through her life my mother has never quilted.
Mom never used the quilt, it was always folded up in her closet, to good to use.
The Quilt is in just about perfect condition and the colors of the fabric are wonderful.
The quilt back.
All the hand quilted stitches,
Mom said it was taken to a lady and quilted. Granny couldn't do it herself.
It's a joy to have this quilt and mom had a wonderful day telling the stories as I pictured the quilt.
